BUY ON WEAKNESS
If you buy ZQQ, you are buying all the stocks that have done remarkably well -- so timing is not good. He would look for a better entry point.
COMMENT

You can own hedged or not or both equally. Warning: MSFT is trading at 10x sales, so these stocks are priced to perfect. Be careful.

COMMENT

Lots of great quality companies. Hit a new high today. Keep diversified. For a smaller portfolio, look at an ETF. For a larger one, you can pick some stocks. 39 bps expense ratio. There's also HXQ, which is not hedged and with a lower expense ratio. He prefers the non-hedged strategy.

DON'T BUY
Large cap stocks are over valued and small and mid-cap stocks are even more overvalued. You have to be patient and wait for a correction in order to invest new money. Don't put new money to work right now. He would prefer TDIV-T when the time comes.
COMMENT

A Canadian tech ETF better than ZQQ? ZQQ is CAD-hedged, so where do you think the CAD will move? HXQ is similar to ZQQ, but a cheaper MER at 0.28%. ZQQ has no hedge to CAD. He prefers HXQ, because it's cheaper and unhedged.

COMMENT

QQQ vs ZQQ? He thinks the Canadian dollar has over shot its real value here, so that factors into a Canadian hedged ETF. On an annual basis you should expect subdued growth for the next while. Having a decent weight in the NASDAQ makes sense.

BUY

ZQQ vs. ICLN. ZQQ is a play in the tech sector and has done extremely well on this rebound. It is probably a little overvalued. He would prefer this for the long term. ICLN-O is domiciled in New York and in a TFSA they will withhold taxes that can't be captured. It is okay in a RRSP.

PARTIAL BUY
Tech ETFs? If you look at the Nasdaq 100 most of the index are the FANG companies. You could buy QQQQ or ZQQ (in CAD dollars). He would not wait for the end of the crisis, you want to take advantage of these sell offs. You could begin to build a position around here.
TOP PICK
A lot of the companies in the ETF were growing before COVID-19 came along. With 50% of the index made up of APPL, FB, INTL and AMZN along with other great companies this is a pretty easy bet -- especially after all the carnage thus far.
COMMENT

ZQQ-T vs. TQQQ-N. The question is if you buy it with a currency hedge or the US version. If you are holding for the next few years, the Canadian dollar will be stronger down the road. He would prefer the ZQQ-T version but today is not the day to buy. In the next market decline he thinks some of the tech stocks will get hit.

COMMENT
A Canadian XLK? ZQQ comes to mind, but there's a First Trust one.
DON'T BUY

He doesn't think there is anything wrong with tech, but everything that is good is already in the stock price. He would rather just pay Apple, Google and Microsoft.

COMMENT

[Is there an unhedged version or can he recommend a NASDAQ version] Larry recommends the QQQ-Q as there is no unhedged Canadian version.

DON'T BUY
The hedging part is fine, but you're late on this story. FAANGs dominate the Nasdaq, and the bulk of the money has been made on tech stocks already, because Washington will regulate them.
WEAK BUY
A fine ETF. It's for you if you're long term in tech, but he doesn't use NASDAQ much in his practice. If you want to trade the Nasdaq, this is a good instrument. Also, he doesn't use hedges.
